Alliance Residential Names Gregory Belew Managing Director
Gregory Belew, a 20-year industry veteran, has joined Alliance Residential Co. as managing director. In his new role, Belew will be responsible for the development and acquisition of multifamily properties in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
Belew brings his vast experience in all phases of the development process, including deal sourcing and structuring, land entitlement, design, financing, construction oversight, property operations and property dispositions.
Alliance, which is currently developing Broadstone at River’s Bend—a luxury apartment community in downtown New Brunswick, N.J.—will continue to expand its operations in the Northeast by acquiring development sites in walkable, transit-oriented locales.
“As we continue to implement our strategy of developing mixed-use projects in the Northeast’s most dynamic areas, Greg is the ideal person to lead the effort,” stated Adam Fruitbine, managing director and head of the firm’s Northeast operations. “His wide-ranging experience and deep understanding of the unique residential development climate in the Greater New York and Philadelphia areas are invaluable traits.”
With 35 offices nationwide, Alliance is an active buyer, builder and manager across 19 states and 29 metropolitan markets. Belew will be based out of the company’s Secaucus, N.J., office.
“As one of the largest private firms of its kind, Alliance has the wherewithal to aggressively pursue the development sites that are most appealing to today’s renters, who value convenience, efficiency and easy access to dining and entertainment,” Belew said in prepared remarks. “I’m excited to join the company at a pivotal time. I look forward to leveraging my knowledge and relationships on behalf of Alliance as we look to develop in higher density urban infill locations in the New York and Philadelphia metro areas.”
Prior to joining Alliance, Belew was a regional partner at national multifamily developer JPI Companies, where he was responsible for development and acquisition operations in the Northeast. Previously, Belew was a co-founder and managing partner of New York-based Fifth Square Partners, a developer of luxury for-sale residential and mixed-use properties throughout the Northeast. Prior to Fifth Square, Belew was with JPMorgan’s Real Estate and Lodging Investment Banking Group, where he handled a wide range of corporate finance and advisory responsibilities for real estate companies, including M&A and equity and debt financing.
Belew originally began his real estate career with JPI Development, developing 300-to-600-unit luxury multifamily real estate projects in Dallas, San Diego and San Francisco.
Belew received an MBA in Finance from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and a BBA in Real Estate and Finance at Southern Methodist University.
